About This Place

Located in the heart of Flushing, Yetnal Tongdak stands as a cherished gem for lovers of authentic Korean fried chicken. This quaint chicken restaurant has earned its reputation by proudly serving Old Style Korean Fried Chicken — a nostalgia-inducing dining experience that truly honors the traditional methods popular until the 1990s. Unlike modern iterations that often come in cut pieces, Yetnal Tongdak offers whole, uncut fried chicken that delivers a crispy, juicy bite with every drumstick and wing.

The menu reads like a love letter to classic Korean comfort food, featuring standout dishes such as their famed 옥날 통닭 (Old Fashioned Korean Fried Chicken), satisfyingly crispy Fried Chicken Wings, and hearty Pig’s Trotter Platter. Delicacies like Corn Cheese, Fish Cake Soup, and Stir-Fried Chicken Gizzards add a delightful variety, while side options like Sweet Potato Wedges and Onion Rings perfectly complement the main courses. Pair your meal with refreshing beverages such as Sprite or Canada Dry to balance the rich, savory flavors.

Guests rave about the signature whole chicken preparation, noting its tender, juicy meat encased in a light yet shatteringly crisp skin that avoids any greasy aftertaste. As one devoted customer, KARLSBALLS TAKOYAKI NYC, shares, “It comes out lightly breaded, juicy crispy BUT NOT GREASY. I’m willing to drive from Manhattan just for this whole chicken.” Another diner, Richard Yu, emphasizes how the restaurant fills a unique niche by preserving that beloved, nostalgic Korean fried chicken style that has almost disappeared from the scene.

Despite the restaurant’s cozy and intimate setting — perfect for small groups or solo diners — the warmth of customer service shines through. One regular, SongYi Park, praises the staff’s kindness and highlights the flavorful soy sauce chicken, describing it as “super flavorful” with “fresh minced garlic in the sauce” and no dry pieces in sight, even after a 15-minute trip home. Whether you choose to dine in or order delivery, Yetnal Tongdak’s quality remains unwavering, consistently delivering a satisfying crunch and impeccable taste that has customers coming back for more.

For anyone seeking an authentic taste of traditional Korean fried chicken in Flushing, Yetnal Tongdak is not just a restaurant—it’s a culinary time capsule that stirs fond memories while delighting the palate with every crackling bite. It’s a must-visit for those craving an honest, old-fashioned chicken experience executed with care, passion, and expertise.

The store name says it all. This restaurant specializes in making Korean fried chicken traditional way., You will get the whole, uncut fried cut. This was the most popular way to eat fried chicken in Korean until 1990s. So someone who is nostalgic of that fried chicken, this restaurant fills that need. I think this restaurant is only one doing it the old way. However, old-fashioned Korean fried chicken is not the most popular menu item here. They also offer the modern version and I think they do it quite competitively. Their pricing point is $2-$3 lower than other franchise KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) restaurants. Yes, there were several occasions when the quality fell below my expectations, especially when delivered via DoorDash or UberEats. But my overall experience had been very positive during multiple visits. By the way, their pork trotter is one of the better one in Flushing, imho.

I’m a fried chicken connoisseur. This place fries the whole chicken the traditional Korean way. it comes out lightly breaded, juicy crispy BUT NOT GREASY. I haven’t tried the other variations yet as they were busy with a lot of take out, however just for the OG WHOLE Chicken, I’m willing to drive from Manhattan to Bayside just for this whole chicken. Man this was good—i just left the restaurant and had to write this review. See you next week!!

Old Fashioned Korean Fried chicken at it’s best. Even with delivery, the skin was shattering and crispy. For dine in, just order and sit and enjoy.

Got the half and half chicken, lady there so SUPER kind! Chicken was still crunchy after a 15 minute ride home and super flavorful. I really reccomend the soy sauce flavor, it even had fresh minced garlic in the sauce. not a single dry piece. Was only able to take a picture halfway through dinner but still delightful nonetheless

The food itself is great!! The store is quite small to go with a bunch of people but honestly the chicken is fantastic and the sauce for it!! Even if you get it by delivery it tastes great.

There is no service here. You order at the counter and is self serve water. The fries are normal and you can get them anywhere. I would pass on it. The chicken is solid. The mayo sauce is creamy and delicious. I was a fan of the raw onions. The Korean fried chicken is crunchy! We got 3 orders for 3 people and had plenty of leftovers.
